Ninety Pines

Your plane went down in the open ocean. You woke up on a small island with an axe, a knife, and a piece of paracord. There is no rescue and no way off - only the question of how long you can last.

Ninety pines stand on the island. They are your fire, your cooked food and your walls. Every one you fell leaves a stump that stays forever, and the island grows barer the longer you survive. When the last tree is gone, so are you. The only score is the number of days.

• Fish the shore. The bite depends on the hour and the sky. Dawn, dusk and the falling pressure before a storm are the best of it - and every one of them costs you sleep or warmth.
• Read the island, not a UI. A darkening horizon means a storm is coming. Gulls working the water mean the fish have risen. There are no numbers to check.
• Burn a log or build with it. Warmth tonight, or a wall that still stands tomorrow.
• Cook, or go hungry. Raw fish keeps you standing, barely. Only fire turns fish into a meal, and fire is trees.
• Sleep as long as you dare. The fire burns down while you do, and the cold finds its way in.

Hunger, warmth, exhaustion. One of them at zero still leaves you time to fix it. All three at zero and the run ends with the only number that ever mattered.
